For the second week of the Buildsmart 2011 workshop (Polito+RPI) we moved with all the students to the fablabitalia to begin the manufacturing of interactive prototypes. The students will be developing physical prototypes of the architectural components they have been working on over the last week using digital modeling software. The material mechanisms will be manufactured using lasercut and Makerbot 3d printer, and the artificial nervous systems that will activate the components in response to environmental variations will be developed using Arduino boards connected to sensors and activators.
The goal is to build one working interactive prototype for each of the 9 groups. The components will then be implemented over the next weeks in order to create smart architectural systems to build environmental sensible installations and architectures
